Heartwarming story
, August 3, 2012
"The Big Bad Rain Monster is a beautifully illustrated heartwarming book that is a perfect read aloud for children. It is cleverly written and teaches children that fears can be overcome. And, in this book the solution is a total surprise that made me smile. And, I smiled as each of the characters was introduced with their adorable and meaningful names. As a school librarian I can see The Big Bad Rain Monster as a discussion starter with children in the classroom about their own fears and how they can be resolved."
Susan Krenicky - Librarian - Philadelphia

"I read your book to a grade two class and THEY LOVED IT!!!!!! They knew the names of all the characters by hard, especially the dogs, but even remembered Mama, Papa and Mrs. Roundbottom - of course! They enjoyed the story and re-lated to it well, as some of them have pets that are also afraid of thunderstorms, fireworks, etc. They also really enjoyed the pictures, especially the pink thunder cloud. So consider your book a success; grade two is brutally honest!!”

“Jeralyn Lash-Sands is a perfect example of someone who started with a wonderful, imaginative idea, worked hard to write and polish the text and find an excellent illustrator. It was not an easy task and we in the writing group were proud to urge her on. The result is a delightful book that any child would be thrilled to own. It is a
modern tale for our times, and we can almost taste the fresh herbs and
vegetables at the Farmer’s Market, as well as the organic buckwheat pancakes.
But behind the fun and warmth, there is a real message, and children everywhere
will find their own treasures in this charming story.”

"Excellent, Superb! The themes and values woven in your story are very impressive: *Family--togetherness and bonding; *Family and pets--kindness and thoughtfulness; *Weaknesses and fears--solutions and problem solving. The themes and values can be expanded by parents, grandparents,
teachers and caregivers to promote positive character development. The fantastic illustrations are a definite plus to your well expressed story.”
